Serving Northern Nevada For More Than 25 Years

Many people reach a point, often after a family member’s illness or death, or simply feeling the changes that come with aging, when they want to do something more thoughtful than sign a stack of legal documents. They want to plan for how life should actually go.

Most people come in thinking about documents. What they really want is to know that when things change, the decisions will still feel like theirs. That’s what we help you plan for.

At Schulze Elder Life Planning, we understand what keeps you up at night. As a trusted guide, we help you handle aging, change, and complex life transitions with clarity and confidence. We have the skills, training, and ability to use all available tools to create a plan for your long-term peace of mind.

What Makes Us Different?

Legal documents are essential, but they only give the people you trust the authority to act. What they don’t tell anyone is what you actually want: how you want to be cared for, what makes life feel like yours, and what happens when things get hard.

Aging Well planning starts where estate planning stops. The result is a written plan in your words that guides everything that follows.

“The goal isn’t to predict the future. It’s to make sure that when things change, your voice is still in the room.”

We Are Here For You Now And In The Future

We help families who fear losing their life savings to the uncertainties of life or the devastating costs of long-term care. We help you deal with the fear and uncertainty that come with life’s most difficult transitions by compassionately partnering with you and providing clear, effective plans and support.

You Are in The Right Place!

Who This Is For?

You’re thinking about getting your affairs in order, and sense there’s more to do than sign documents.

A family member’s illness or death has made you think more seriously about your own future.

You want to make sure that if things change, the people around you know exactly what you want, not just what you’ve authorized.

You’re not in a crisis. You’re thinking ahead, and you want to do it thoughtfully, on your own terms.

You’re somewhere between 65 and 80, you feel the changes that come with aging, and you want to stay in charge of your own story.

Five Conversations. One Plan. Your Words

How Does It Work?

Aging Well planning unfolds across five 90-minute conversations. Each one builds on the last. At the end, you have a written Elder Life Plan, a living document that reflects who you are, what you value, and how you want things to go.

About Rich Schulze

Richard P. Schulze

Rich Schulze spent over 30 years practicing elder law, leading a firm recognized as the best in the region for three consecutive years. While he and his staff take immense pride in that foundation, three decades in the courtroom and at the conference table taught Rich an important lesson - elder law is a cure.

He realized that while legal intervention is a skilled and necessary response once a crisis begins, the more impactful work lies in prevention. Having watched countless families struggle with legal problems that were entirely avoidable, Rich founded Schulze Elder Life Planning to shift the focus.

His mission is not to replace traditional legal work. He aims to provide what no document can achieve on its own - the clarity and honest communication families need before circumstances force their hand. Rich built this practice on the belief that helping people speak honestly and plan proactively is the best act of care.

At Schulze Elder Life Planning, the guiding philosophy is that prevention is better than a cure.
